New Teeth In A Day – All on 4 Procedure
If you have been told that you are about to lose your existing teeth, the treatment prospects can be daunting. You may be reluctant to wear removable dentures. If you are an existing denture wearer you may already be suffering due to the limitations of conventional dentures. Advancements in dental implant technology now offer hope to denture wearers and those on the verge of losing their teeth.
In just one day, your dental implants can be placed and fixed teeth attached. These new fixed teeth are non-removable and ready for immediate function. This procedure, also known as All-on-4, is available whether you have no existing teeth or you still have some teeth remaining.
If your goal is to have fixed esthetic teeth and a new smile in just one day, then All-on-4 dental implants may be the solution for you. Dr. Currie at Pearl Dental has been providing All-on-4 dental implant solutions for over a decade, with many satisfied customers singing our praises.
What is All-on-4 Dental Implant Treatment?
All-on-4 Dental Implant Treatment is a comprehensive teeth replacement solution for patients that do not want to deal with the inconvenience of dentures. Also called “New Teeth In A Day”, the All-on-4 dental implant treatment involves inserting dental anchors into the jaw, onto which custom made prosthetic teeth are then attached. This allows for a permanent, custom smile in just one day, improving confidence and independence. The all-on-4 dental implant treatment is performed on site at Pearl Dental by Dr. Daniel Currie.
What is the All-on-4 Dental Implant Procedure?
The first step in the All-on-4 dental implant procedure is an initial consultation with Dr. Currie. At this appointment we will determine if you are a good candidate by reviewing your health history and assessing your current dental situation. This is also an opportunity to make sure that all of your questions have been answered and you know what to expect during and after your treatment.
A custom set of new teeth are fabricated in advance of your dental surgery date. The size shape and colour of these teeth are customised to suit your smile using your feedback as guidance. On the day of the procedure any remaining teeth are removed, four or five dental implants are placed and your new teeth are attached. Occasionally, the anchors will be inserted some time prior to the prosthetics being attached, to allow for gum healing. In most cases, the anchors and prosthetics can be attached in a single day.
Following your successful All-on-4 dental implant procedure, we will instruct you on how to care for your new teeth. Your prosthetics will act just like your natural teeth, and your implants will require home care and professional cleaning just like your natural teeth did.
How long is recovery for All-on-4 Dental Implant Therapy?
The All-on-4 dental implant procedure comes with very little downtime. We typically recommend a few days rest to minimise swelling. You can start eating solid foods right away, however, we do recommend soft foods at first to allow the implants to integrate successfully. Dr Currie and his team will see you one week and two weeks after the surgery to ensure that healing is proceeding uneventfully and Dr. Currie will provide his personal phone number to every All-on-4 patient to provide complete peace of mind. Six months after the initial surgery a final set of prosthetic teeth will be fabricated. This final set of teeth is significantly stronger than the same-day teeth and allows for even greater refinement of the esthetics.
Who should get All-on-4 Dental Implant Treatment?
The All-on-4 dental implant technique is an ideal solution for patients with many or all teeth in the upper or lower jaw missing or unusable. The procedure is suitable for patients already wearing dentures or for those patients who are about to lose their teeth. There is no upper age limit for the the All-on-4 procedure if you are in good health. The procedure is ideal for those that want to lead an active lifestyle unencumbered by the limitations of dentures.
What are the benefits of All-on-4 Dental Implants?
All-on-4 dental implants offer a range of benefits over traditional dentures. So if you are tired of removing your dentures, avoiding certain foods, or the indignity of having your dentures fall out, All-on-4 dental implants are the permanent solution you’ve been looking for!
Here is a selection of benefits provided by the All-on-4 procedure:
Permanent – unlike dentures, which tend to move around, come loose, and impede speech, the all-on-4 dental implant procedure results in a stable bite surface that doesn’t move.
Little downtime – the All-on-4 dental implant procedure with teeth attached in one day allows for a return to an active lifestyle faster than traditional dental implant treatment protocols.
Aesthetic – teeth that are terminal are also usually not as attractive as you would like. With new teeth on dental implants you have the opportunity to completely redesign your smile. Size, shape, colour and tooth position can be perfected to give you a smile you never even had!
Protects jaw bone – the All-on-4 dental implant procedure helps to protect remaining jaw bone from further degradation; by removing the pressure from a removable denture and loading the jaw bone with a stronger bite, the jaw bone can actually increase in density.
